SEO
Do blogs still help SEO?
Genuinely useful content still works; publishing posts because a schedule says so does not. For a site with no authority, informational content is the only realistic way to enter a SERP at all — and the only mechanism that earns links without buying them.
What works
- Answering a specific question completely, better than anything currently ranking
- Writing from experience nobody else has — a real failure mode, real numbers, real constraints
- Organising content into clusters so coverage is legible
- Linking from content into the commercial pages that actually convert
What does not
- Posting weekly because a content calendar exists
- Rewriting what already ranks, slightly worse
- Listicles with no first-hand detail
- Anything written to a keyword brief by someone who has never done the thing
The commercial reality for a small business
Nobody links to a services page. They link to a tool, original data, or a guide that answered something properly. Content is the only link engine available without a budget, and it is slow.
The longer version
This answer is deliberately short. If you want the full treatment, The 35 types of SEO, explained without the padding covers it in about 6 minutes — free, ungated, written from client work.
Who answered this
Anas Bin Masud builds e-commerce sites and does technical SEO for businesses in the UK, Canada and Pakistan — fifteen live client sites, six of them stores taking real payments. These answers come from those projects rather than from a content brief. More about how I work, or ask me something directly.
