SEO
How many pages should my website have?
As many as you can fill with something genuinely useful, and no more. Six pages of honest, specific content beat thirty of filler in both directions — buyers read them and search engines rank them. Page count is an output, not a target.
The pages almost every business needs
- One page per service you actually sell — not one page listing all of them
- Pricing, or at least an explanation of what changes the number
- Proof: work you have done, with links that open
- About, with a real person on it
- Contact, with a real route rather than only a form
- Terms, privacy and refund policy
Why filler actively hurts
Google’s helpful content assessment looks at a site as a whole. A large volume of unhelpful pages can suppress the ones that are good, which makes removing or improving weak pages a legitimate optimisation.
When more pages genuinely help
When each answers a distinct question someone actually asks. That is the test — not word count, not a target number, and not what a competitor happens to have.
The longer version
This answer is deliberately short. If you want the full treatment, The 35 types of SEO, explained without the padding covers it in about 6 minutes — free, ungated, written from client work.
