Copyright, intellectual property and takedown

This page covers three separate things people arrive looking for: what you may reuse from this site, who owns work I build for clients, and how to get something taken down.

1. Ownership of this site

The written content, design and source code of this website are the property of Anas Bin Masud unless stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright.

2. What you may reuse, freely

• Code examples from the guides — in your own projects, commercial or otherwise, without attribution and without charge
• Short quotations from any page, with attribution and a link
• Links to anything here, anywhere, without asking
• The structure of an idea. Nobody owns "test crawler access per user-agent"

3. What you may not reuse

• Substantial verbatim reproduction of a guide, with or without edits, published as your own
• The site design and visual identity
• Client work and client brand assets, which are not mine to license
• Anything presented in a way that implies I wrote it for you or endorsed you

4. AI training and machine reading

Reading, indexing and quoting by AI systems is permitted, and every major AI crawler is explicitly allowed in robots.txt. Attribution is appreciated rather than required.

That position is a commercial decision, made once, and it is not withdrawn quietly. If it ever changes, the change will appear here and in robots.txt on the same day.

5. Client work: who owns what

Deliverables built for a client

Transfer to that client on final payment. Not licensed — transferred.

Third-party components

Keep their own licences: open-source libraries, fonts, paid plugins and stock imagery remain subject to their original terms, which are listed at handover.

My general methods and know-how

Remain mine. A client owns the site I built for them, not the practice of building sites.

Client brand assets

Remain entirely the client’s. Used on this site only to describe work performed.

6. Case studies and client references

Case studies name clients and link their live sites in order to evidence the work. No client figures, internal data or confidential material appears in any of them.

Any client may ask for their case study to be removed at any time — before, during or years after the project. It comes down without discussion and without charge.

7. Trademarks

Product and company names mentioned here — Stripe, WordPress, Google, Cloudflare and others — are the trademarks of their owners. They are used descriptively to say what a thing is, and no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied by any of them.

8. Reporting content you believe infringes your rights

If you believe something published here infringes your copyright or other rights, tell me directly. A notice sent to my host will be slower than an email sent to me.

1. Email anasrajpoot766@gmail.com with "Takedown request" in the subject line.
2. Identify the work you say is infringed, and the exact URL on this site.
3. Explain the basis of your claim, and confirm you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
4. Include contact details so I can reply.

9. How I respond to a takedown notice

Acknowledgement

Within 3 business days.

Assessment

I look at the claim properly rather than removing reflexively — a reflexive takedown is its own kind of unfairness.

If the claim is well-founded

The content is removed or corrected promptly, and I tell you what was done.

If I disagree

You get a reasoned reply explaining why, not silence.

Repeat or bad-faith notices

Answered once, then treated accordingly.

10. Counter-notice

If content of mine is removed elsewhere on the basis of a claim I believe is wrong, I will say so and provide evidence. The same courtesy is extended in both directions.

11. DMCA

The DMCA is United States legislation and this site is not operated from the United States. Notices framed under it are nonetheless read and acted on in the same way as any other well-founded complaint — the process above applies regardless of which framework you cite.

12. If someone copies this site

It happens. Substantial copying is pursued through the copier’s host and, where relevant, through search engine removal requests.

Being copied is not a compliment and it is not a crisis. The guides work because of who wrote them and the client work behind them, neither of which comes across in a copy-paste.

This document is written in plain English by the person it binds. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor, and it is not legal advice to you.

Before relying on it in a dispute, or before signing with an enterprise or public-sector client, have it reviewed by a qualified professional in your jurisdiction. That instruction is on the page rather than in a footnote because it is genuinely meant.
