Web developer in Gatineau
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Gatineau businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in CAD, scoped in writing before anything starts.
A working site for a Gatineau business is a smaller and more boring thing than most agencies will sell you. Fast pages, honest copy, a form that works on a phone, and structured data so search engines can read what you do. There is no fifth thing. The budget saved by not buying the fifth thing is better spent on photography.
What working with a Canadian client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in Canada, Gatineau included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | CAD — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax |
| Your customers' data sits under | PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers |
| Checkout can realistically use | Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay |
| My day, in Gatineau time | 00:00–09:00 — which barely touches your working day, so a shifted window is agreed in writing instead |
One thing worth knowing about building for Canada
Quebec Law 25 caught a lot of Canadian sites out: consent has to be explicit and granular, and the default cookie banner most agencies drop in does not meet it. I build the consent layer properly rather than bolting on a plugin.
How a Gatineau build is scoped before anything is written
Scope is fixed in writing before development starts, and the number in that document is the number on the invoice. For Gatineau projects that document lists every page, every form, every integration and every third-party account the site will touch — priced in CAD, not converted at the end from something else.
The reason this matters more than it sounds: almost every dispute in web development is a scope dispute wearing a different hat. "Can you just add" is how a three-day build becomes a three-week one. Fixing scope up front does not stop you changing your mind; it makes the cost of changing your mind visible before you commit to it, which is the only honest way to run a fixed price.
Trades and field services in Gatineau
Builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers and installers share one problem: the customer is deciding on their phone, often standing in the room with the problem, and they will call the first firm that looks like it will pick up. Three things decide it — the phone number tappable in the header, a coverage list naming their town, and photographs of your own finished work rather than stock.
The thing trades sites most often get wrong is the quote form. Asking for a full address, a project budget and a preferred start date before anything else is a form built for your admin convenience, not for the customer. Two fields and a photo upload will produce more enquiries than eight fields ever will, and the rest can be collected on the call you just earned.
Analytics that has never once been looked at
Most sites carry a tracking tag and no measurement. Nobody defined what counts as a conversion, so the dashboard reports sessions and bounce rate — numbers that move up and down and change no decision anybody makes.
Useful measurement is narrow: form submissions, phone taps, WhatsApp clicks, and which pages preceded them. Four numbers checked monthly beat forty never opened, and knowing which Gatineau search terms actually produce enquiries is what turns the site from a cost into something you can steer.
Hiring a developer who is not in Gatineau
What makes remote work fail is almost never the distance. It is the absence of a written record — decisions made on calls, nothing agreed in text, two people remembering different things six weeks later. Every Gatineau project runs with the scope, the change log and the decisions in writing, which is dull and is the entire reason the fixed price holds.

Priced for Gatineau specifically
What I am not claiming about Gatineau
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Gatineau
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Gatineau specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Gatineau web development — common questions
- Do you build on WordPress or something custom?
- Whichever the project justifies. WordPress when you need to edit content constantly and want a familiar admin. A static build when speed and security matter more than a plugin ecosystem. Custom PHP and MySQL when the logic is genuinely yours. The choice is explained in the quote with its trade-offs, not presented as a foregone conclusion.
- Can you migrate my Gatineau site without losing rankings?
- Yes, and the redirect map is the whole job. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 before launch, and anything with no equivalent goes to the closest relevant page rather than the homepage. Sites lose rankings in migration because that mapping was skipped, not because migration is inherently risky.
- Do you actually work with businesses in Gatineau?
- Yes, remotely. I work with Canadian clients from Islamabad, quoting in CAD and invoicing in CAD. I have no office, address or phone number in Gatineau and will not pretend otherwise. If your project needs someone physically present, hire locally — I will say so in the first reply rather than after a deposit.
- How much does a website cost in Gatineau?
- A business website starts from C$110 and goes live in about three days. An e-commerce build starts from C$210 in around seven days, and a custom application from C$270 in ten. Those are starting figures — the exact number is fixed in writing once scope is agreed, and it does not move after that.
- What currency will I be invoiced in?
- CAD. Quotes, milestones and the final invoice are all written in CAD so you are never comparing a converted figure against a local supplier's. Regarding tax: GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax.
- Who owns the website when it is finished?
- You do, completely. The domain is registered in your name, hosting sits in your account, the code lives in a repository you control, and any payment provider account is opened in your business name. Credentials are handed to you as they are created rather than at the end, so you are never locked out of your own site.
- How do you handle our customers' data under PIPEDA federally?
- Your customer data is governed by PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers, and sending it to a developer in Pakistan is a restricted transfer. That is resolved by a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers, published on this site and pre-signed before you send an enquiry — not drafted after you ask about it.
