Web developer in Calgary
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Calgary businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in CAD, scoped in writing before anything starts.
A working site for a Calgary business is a smaller and more boring thing than most agencies will sell you. Fast pages, honest copy, a form that works on a phone, and structured data so search engines can read what you do. There is no fifth thing. The budget saved by not buying the fifth thing is better spent on photography.
What working with a Canadian client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in Canada, Calgary included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | CAD — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax |
| Your customers' data sits under | PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers |
| Checkout can realistically use | Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay |
| My day, in Calgary time | 00:00–09:00 — which barely touches your working day, so a shifted window is agreed in writing instead |
One thing worth knowing about building for Canada
Quebec Law 25 caught a lot of Canadian sites out: consent has to be explicit and granular, and the default cookie banner most agencies drop in does not meet it. I build the consent layer properly rather than bolting on a plugin.
The performance budget every Calgary build is held to
Pages are built to a hard weight limit rather than optimised afterwards, because retrofitting speed onto a heavy site is several times the work of not making it heavy. In practice that means no framework runtime on a content page, fonts subset to the characters actually used, and images generated at the sizes actually displayed.
For Canada specifically this is a commercial number, not a vanity one. A visitor on mobile data who waits four seconds is frequently a visitor who is gone, and the analytics will record it as a bounce rather than as the lost sale it was. Core Web Vitals is simply the name Google gave to noticing this.
Trades and field services in Calgary
Builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers and installers share one problem: the customer is deciding on their phone, often standing in the room with the problem, and they will call the first firm that looks like it will pick up. Three things decide it — the phone number tappable in the header, a coverage list naming their town, and photographs of your own finished work rather than stock.
The thing trades sites most often get wrong is the quote form. Asking for a full address, a project budget and a preferred start date before anything else is a form built for your admin convenience, not for the customer. Two fields and a photo upload will produce more enquiries than eight fields ever will, and the rest can be collected on the call you just earned.
Structured data that is missing, wrong, or quietly lying
Schema markup is how a search engine reads what a page means rather than only what it says. Missing it costs you rich results. Getting it wrong is worse: marking up review stars you do not have, or a LocalBusiness at an address that is not yours, risks a manual action rather than a ranking.
Every page I build carries schema matching what is actually on it and nothing beyond that. The restraint is deliberate — this page uses Service and areaServed rather than LocalBusiness, precisely because there is no physical presence in Calgary to assert.
Hiring a developer who is not in Calgary
Distance costs you two specific things and I would rather name them than let you discover them. The first is spontaneous communication: you cannot walk in. The second is legal recourse, which is genuinely harder across borders. The first is handled by a fixed weekly call and a shared board you can read without asking. The second is handled by milestones — you pay for work already delivered and reviewable, never for work promised.

Priced for Calgary specifically
What I am not claiming about Calgary
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Calgary
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Calgary specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Calgary web development — common questions
- How long does a Calgary project actually take?
- Three days for a business site, seven for a store, ten for a custom application. That holds because the process is fixed rather than improvised and because your content exists on day one. What stretches a build is almost never the code — it is waiting for copy, logos and photographs, so those are requested before the clock starts.
- What hours will you be available to us in Calgary?
- Honestly: very little, by default. My standard day lands at 00:00–09:00 your time, which barely touches a Calgary working day. So Canada projects run on a deliberately shifted schedule — I commit in writing to a fixed daily window that falls inside your morning, plus asynchronous written updates you can read before you start. If a supplier in your own timezone is what you need, that is a legitimate reason to hire locally.
- How do you handle our customers' data under PIPEDA federally?
- Your customer data is governed by PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers, and sending it to a developer in Pakistan is a restricted transfer. That is resolved by a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers, published on this site and pre-signed before you send an enquiry — not drafted after you ask about it.
- What payment methods can my Calgary checkout accept?
- For Canada: Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay. The right combination depends on your average basket and your customers, and picking wrong is expensive — the payment method a buyer expects but cannot find is one of the most common reasons a checkout is abandoned at the final step.
- What currency will I be invoiced in?
- CAD. Quotes, milestones and the final invoice are all written in CAD so you are never comparing a converted figure against a local supplier's. Regarding tax: GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax.
- Who owns the website when it is finished?
- You do, completely. The domain is registered in your name, hosting sits in your account, the code lives in a repository you control, and any payment provider account is opened in your business name. Credentials are handed to you as they are created rather than at the end, so you are never locked out of your own site.
- Do you actually work with businesses in Calgary?
- Yes, remotely. I work with Canadian clients from Islamabad, quoting in CAD and invoicing in CAD. I have no office, address or phone number in Calgary and will not pretend otherwise. If your project needs someone physically present, hire locally — I will say so in the first reply rather than after a deposit.

Where this page sits
This page covers Calgary. Every other town in Canada is listed on the Canada coverage page, and the full worldwide list is at all locations. The full commercial terms for this market — contracting, currency and the data-transfer mechanism in detail — are on the Canada market page.
Before you enquire: pricing is published rather than quoted on request, how I work covers the process end to end, the work page lists live client sites you can open, and vendor information answers the procurement questions.
