Landing page design and development in Nanaimo
A landing page is not a short website. It is one page with one job, and everything that does not serve that job is actively costing you — a navigation bar on a paid landing page is a set of exits you paid for the click to reach. For Nanaimo businesses, quoted in CAD from $40, typically live in 2 days.
What landing page design and development includes for a Nanaimo business
Fixed scope, agreed in writing before development starts. From $40, typically live in 2 days.
- One page, one conversion action, agreed in writing before the design starts
- Above-the-fold offer and call to action visible on a phone without scrolling
- Conversion-focused structure: problem, proof, objection handling, action
- Form or booking flow with server-side validation and spam protection that is not a CAPTCHA wall
- Sub-second render on 4G — no framework runtime, no render-blocking third-party scripts
- Conversion tracking wired up, so the page can be judged rather than admired
- Thank-you page and confirmation email, because the flow does not end at submit
- A/B-ready structure if you intend to test variants later
The terms for a Canadian client
| Starting price | From $40, quoted and invoiced in CAD |
|---|---|
| Typical timeline | 2 days once content is supplied |
| Tax position | GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax |
| Data protection | PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers — resolved by a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers |
| Payment rails available | Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay |
| My day in Nanaimo time | 00:00–09:00 — a shifted window is agreed in writing instead |
Why this matters for Canada specifically
Quebec Law 25 caught a lot of Canadian sites out: consent has to be explicit and granular, and the default cookie banner most agencies drop in does not meet it. I build the consent layer properly rather than bolting on a plugin.
What happens in the first 48 hours of a Nanaimo build
Nothing is designed on day one. The first two days are spent on the things that decide whether the build succeeds: what the site is for, which single action matters most, who the visitor actually is, and what content genuinely exists versus what is assumed to exist. That last one is where most timelines quietly break.
By the end of it you have a written scope, a sitemap, a price in CAD and a date. If any of those four look wrong to you, that is the cheapest possible moment to say so — before a line of code exists. Projects that go badly almost always skipped this and started with a homepage mockup instead.
Hospitality and venues in Nanaimo
Restaurants, cafés, hotels and venues are judged on four things a visitor looks for immediately: today's opening hours, the menu or rate as a readable page, real photographs of the actual room, and how to book. Everything else on a hospitality site is decoration arranged around those four.
The PDF menu deserves its own warning. It is invisible to search engines, unreadable on a phone without pinch-zoom, and it is the most common reason a Nanaimo venue never appears for searches naming the dishes it serves. Menus belong in HTML.
The contact form that silently fails
The most expensive bug on a small business website makes no noise at all. A form posts, shows a thank-you message, and the email never arrives — usually because the host's mail function is unauthenticated and the receiving server drops it without a bounce. The business concludes demand fell.
The fix is authenticated SMTP with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured on the sending domain, plus a database write so a submission survives even when delivery fails. If you are unsure whether your Nanaimo site has this problem, submit your own form from a phone on mobile data and see what actually arrives.
What I am not claiming about Nanaimo
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Nanaimo
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Nanaimo specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Landing page design and development in Nanaimo — common questions
- Do you provide ongoing maintenance after launch?
- Thirty days of snag fixes are included after launch at no extra cost — anything that does not work as specified gets fixed. Beyond that there are monthly plans for updates, backups, monitoring and small changes. They are optional and cancellable; a site handed over properly does not require a retainer to keep running.
- Will the site actually rank in Nanaimo search results?
- The build handles what is technically controllable: crawlable HTML, correct headings, structured data, fast pages, a clean sitemap and Search Console set up on day one. Ranking also depends on your competitors, your domain's age and the links pointing at you, which no developer controls. Anyone guaranteeing a position is guessing or lying.
- What hours will you be available to us in Nanaimo?
- Honestly: very little, by default. My standard day lands at 00:00–09:00 your time, which barely touches a Nanaimo working day. So Canada projects run on a deliberately shifted schedule — I commit in writing to a fixed daily window that falls inside your morning, plus asynchronous written updates you can read before you start. If a supplier in your own timezone is what you need, that is a legitimate reason to hire locally.
- Can you fix my existing site rather than rebuild it?
- Often, yes, and it is usually the cheaper answer. Speed problems, a broken mobile layout, a form that silently fails or missing structured data are all fixable on the site you already have. I will tell you which of the two you need after looking, and a rebuild only gets recommended when the fix would cost more than starting again.
- Can you migrate my Nanaimo site without losing rankings?
- Yes, and the redirect map is the whole job. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 before launch, and anything with no equivalent goes to the closest relevant page rather than the homepage. Sites lose rankings in migration because that mapping was skipped, not because migration is inherently risky.
- Do I need to provide the content and images?
- Content, yes — you know your business and I do not. I will restructure and edit what you send so it reads for the web, and I will tell you where a section is missing. Photography is worth paying a local photographer for; stock images of people in offices are recognisable as stock and quietly cost you credibility.
- What happens if I am not happy with the result?
- Work is delivered in milestones against a written scope, and you review each one on a staging URL before it is paid for. If the delivered milestone does not match the scope, it gets corrected before anything moves forward. That structure exists so disagreement is resolved at the stage it happens rather than at the end when it is expensive.
