AI search and working with a developer
What is Off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO covers everything influencing rankings that does not live on your website: links, brand mentions, reviews, directory listings and profile pages. It is the slowest part of SEO to move and the part that cannot be bought safely.
Also called: off-site SEO
What it consists of
- Links from other sites, weighted by relevance and authority
- Unlinked brand mentions, which contribute to entity recognition
- Reviews on platforms your buyers actually check
- Consistent profile and directory listings, which corroborate that you exist
- Citations in AI answers, which increasingly follow the same corroboration signals
The order that works for a new site
- Claim and complete the profiles you are entitled to — free, immediate, and it builds the entity
- Publish content genuinely worth citing
- Ask satisfied clients for reviews, immediately after the work
- Earn credit links where you have permission and the placement is natural
- Never buy links, however cheap the offer looks
The honest timescale
Nothing here moves in weeks. Going from two profiles to a dozen consistent ones takes an afternoon each and pays off over months, and that is still the fastest legitimate lever available.
