AI search and working with a developer
What is Entity?
An entity is a distinct thing a search engine recognises — a person, a business, a product, a concept — as opposed to a string of characters. Entity SEO is making a machine confident that your business is a specific, real thing rather than an ambiguous name.

Why it matters more now
Answer engines avoid confidently citing something they cannot verify. With a common name, several other people may hold similar sites, and without corroboration no model can decide which one you are — so it names nobody, or worse, names someone else.
How to build one
- Consistent name, address and contact details everywhere they appear
- sameAs references in structured data linking to every profile you control
- A dozen or more independent surfaces agreeing on the same facts
- An about page with a real person, real history and traceable claims
- Third-party mentions you did not write
The threshold
Two profiles is not corroboration. Ten to fourteen consistent ones — code repositories, professional networks, marketplaces, directories, publications — is enough for an engine to bind the name to a specific entity with confidence.
