Local
How do I get more local customers from my website?
Fix the profile before the website: verified, correct category, honest service areas, complete fields, real photographs and a steady flow of reviews. Then make the site fast on a phone with a tappable phone number and a form that returns a real answer.
The order of work
- Business profile: verified, complete, correct primary category
- Name, address and phone identical everywhere they appear
- Reviews, requested immediately after each job
- One page per service you sell, rather than one page listing all of them
- Mobile: tappable phone number, fast pages, forms that work with a thumb
What most local sites get wrong
- A single Services page that ranks for nothing
- A page per town, which is a doorway pattern
- Stock photography instead of real jobs
- A quote form that returns "we will call you back" instead of a number
- A phone number in an image, or buried in a footer
The measurement that matters
Enquiries by source, and calls from mobile tracked separately. Everything else — sessions, bounce rate, time on page — is a proxy that changes nothing.
The longer version
This answer is deliberately short. If you want the full treatment, Local SEO when customers do not come to your address covers it in about 3 minutes — free, ungated, written from client work.
