How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask every satisfied customer immediately after the work, in person or by a message with a direct link. Recency matters more than total — eight reviews from the last six months read better than twenty from four years ago.
What works
- Asking at the moment of relief — the day of or the day after the job
- A direct link that opens the review form, not instructions to search for you
- Asking in person first, then following with the link
- Responding to every review, briefly, including the difficult ones
What will get you suspended
- Incentivising reviews — it violates policy and the pattern is detectable
- Writing them yourself, or asking staff to
- Buying them, which is the fastest route to profile suspension
- Gating: only asking customers who said something positive
Why a steady trickle beats a burst
Twelve reviews arriving over a year reads as a real business. Twelve arriving in one week reads as a campaign, and platforms treat velocity spikes as a signal worth examining.
