Verify the site in Search Console, submit an XML sitemap, make sure nothing blocks crawling, and ensure every page is linked internally from somewhere. Indexing is a quality decision as well as a discovery one — Google fetches far more than it keeps.

The two methods and what each is good for

site: search: Fast, approximate, and available without access to anything. Good for a rough count and for spotting pages you did not expect to see.
URL Inspection: Definitive per URL. Shows indexing status, the canonical Google chose, the crawl date, and the rendered HTML it actually received.

The report worth reading properly

Search Console → Indexing → Pages splits your URLs into indexed and not indexed with a reason for each. "Alternate page with proper canonical tag" is usually fine. "Discovered — currently not indexed" and "Crawled — currently not indexed" are quality signals worth acting on.

The check most people skip

View Crawled Page inside URL Inspection. It shows the HTML Google received, which settles any argument about whether your JavaScript-rendered content is visible to it.
