Web developer in Ottawa
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Ottawa businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in CAD, scoped in writing before anything starts.
Businesses in Ottawa usually come to me after a site has already been built once and disappointed. That is a useful starting point, because it means the requirements are no longer theoretical — you know exactly which parts failed. Rebuilding from a list of specific complaints produces a far better result than rebuilding from a mood board.
What working with a Canadian client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in Canada, Ottawa included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | CAD — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax |
| Your customers' data sits under | PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers |
| Checkout can realistically use | Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay |
| My day, in Ottawa time | 00:00–09:00 — which barely touches your working day, so a shifted window is agreed in writing instead |
One thing worth knowing about building for Canada
Quebec Law 25 caught a lot of Canadian sites out: consent has to be explicit and granular, and the default cookie banner most agencies drop in does not meet it. I build the consent layer properly rather than bolting on a plugin.
The performance budget every Ottawa build is held to
Pages are built to a hard weight limit rather than optimised afterwards, because retrofitting speed onto a heavy site is several times the work of not making it heavy. In practice that means no framework runtime on a content page, fonts subset to the characters actually used, and images generated at the sizes actually displayed.
For Canada specifically this is a commercial number, not a vanity one. A visitor on mobile data who waits four seconds is frequently a visitor who is gone, and the analytics will record it as a bounce rather than as the lost sale it was. Core Web Vitals is simply the name Google gave to noticing this.
Manufacturing, wholesale and B2B in Ottawa
A B2B site in Ottawa serves two audiences with opposite needs. A buyer wants specifications, tolerances, lead times and a downloadable datasheet. A procurement officer wants your company registration, insurance, certifications and payment terms. Serving both from one undifferentiated "About" page serves neither of them.
The highest-value feature is almost always a searchable product or capability index carrying real part numbers, because that is what engineers search for. It is unglamorous, it is a database problem rather than a design problem, and it produces enquiries that arrive already qualified.
Analytics that has never once been looked at
Most sites carry a tracking tag and no measurement. Nobody defined what counts as a conversion, so the dashboard reports sessions and bounce rate — numbers that move up and down and change no decision anybody makes.
Useful measurement is narrow: form submissions, phone taps, WhatsApp clicks, and which pages preceded them. Four numbers checked monthly beat forty never opened, and knowing which Ottawa search terms actually produce enquiries is what turns the site from a cost into something you can steer.
Hiring a developer who is not in Ottawa
The question worth asking a remote supplier is not "where are you" but "what happens if you vanish". My answer is the handover: the repository, the hosting and the domain are in your name from the first week, not the last. Any competent developer in Ottawa could take over the project mid-build without calling me, and that is the only guarantee that means anything at this distance.

Priced for Ottawa specifically
What I am not claiming about Ottawa
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Ottawa
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Ottawa specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Ottawa web development — common questions
- How do you handle our customers' data under PIPEDA federally?
- Your customer data is governed by PIPEDA federally, with Quebec Law 25 layered on top if you have Quebec customers, and sending it to a developer in Pakistan is a restricted transfer. That is resolved by a written DPA naming Pakistan as the processing location, which PIPEDA requires you to disclose to your own customers, published on this site and pre-signed before you send an enquiry — not drafted after you ask about it.
- What payment methods can my Ottawa checkout accept?
- For Canada: Stripe, Interac e-Transfer for deposits, and Moneris where an existing merchant account has to stay. The right combination depends on your average basket and your customers, and picking wrong is expensive — the payment method a buyer expects but cannot find is one of the most common reasons a checkout is abandoned at the final step.
- What currency will I be invoiced in?
- CAD. Quotes, milestones and the final invoice are all written in CAD so you are never comparing a converted figure against a local supplier's. Regarding tax: GST/HST at 5–15% depending on province — my invoices are zero-rated exports and carry no Canadian tax.
- Who owns the website when it is finished?
- You do, completely. The domain is registered in your name, hosting sits in your account, the code lives in a repository you control, and any payment provider account is opened in your business name. Credentials are handed to you as they are created rather than at the end, so you are never locked out of your own site.
- Do you actually work with businesses in Ottawa?
- Yes, remotely. I work with Canadian clients from Islamabad, quoting in CAD and invoicing in CAD. I have no office, address or phone number in Ottawa and will not pretend otherwise. If your project needs someone physically present, hire locally — I will say so in the first reply rather than after a deposit.
- How much does a website cost in Ottawa?
- A business website starts from C$110 and goes live in about three days. An e-commerce build starts from C$210 in around seven days, and a custom application from C$270 in ten. Those are starting figures — the exact number is fixed in writing once scope is agreed, and it does not move after that.
- Can you migrate my Ottawa site without losing rankings?
- Yes, and the redirect map is the whole job. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 before launch, and anything with no equivalent goes to the closest relevant page rather than the homepage. Sites lose rankings in migration because that mapping was skipped, not because migration is inherently risky.

Where this page sits
This page covers Ottawa. Every other town in Canada is listed on the Canada coverage page, and the full worldwide list is at all locations. The full commercial terms for this market — contracting, currency and the data-transfer mechanism in detail — are on the Canada market page.
Before you enquire: pricing is published rather than quoted on request, how I work covers the process end to end, the work page lists live client sites you can open, and vendor information answers the procurement questions.
