Web developer in Lugano
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Lugano businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in CHF, scoped in writing before anything starts.
If your Lugano business gets most of its work through word of mouth, your website has a narrower job than you have probably been told. It is not there to find strangers. It is there to reassure someone who already has your name and is checking whether you look real. That is a much easier site to build, and much cheaper.
What working with a Swiss client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in Switzerland, Lugano included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | CHF — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | VAT at 8.1% |
| Your customers' data sits under | the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | a DPA with the Swiss addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses |
| Checkout can realistically use | TWINT, PostFinance, Stripe, and Klarna |
| My day, in Lugano time | 06:00–15:00 — about 6 hours inside a normal working day |
One thing worth knowing about building for Switzerland
Switzerland runs four national languages and TWINT dominates mobile payment. Sites here are usually German and French at minimum, and the translation workflow has to be part of the CMS rather than a spreadsheet.
How a Lugano build is scoped before anything is written
Scope is fixed in writing before development starts, and the number in that document is the number on the invoice. For Lugano projects that document lists every page, every form, every integration and every third-party account the site will touch — priced in CHF, not converted at the end from something else.
The reason this matters more than it sounds: almost every dispute in web development is a scope dispute wearing a different hat. "Can you just add" is how a three-day build becomes a three-week one. Fixing scope up front does not stop you changing your mind; it makes the cost of changing your mind visible before you commit to it, which is the only honest way to run a fixed price.
Trades and field services in Lugano
Builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers and installers share one problem: the customer is deciding on their phone, often standing in the room with the problem, and they will call the first firm that looks like it will pick up. Three things decide it — the phone number tappable in the header, a coverage list naming their town, and photographs of your own finished work rather than stock.
The thing trades sites most often get wrong is the quote form. Asking for a full address, a project budget and a preferred start date before anything else is a form built for your admin convenience, not for the customer. Two fields and a photo upload will produce more enquiries than eight fields ever will, and the rest can be collected on the call you just earned.
Structured data that is missing, wrong, or quietly lying
Schema markup is how a search engine reads what a page means rather than only what it says. Missing it costs you rich results. Getting it wrong is worse: marking up review stars you do not have, or a LocalBusiness at an address that is not yours, risks a manual action rather than a ranking.
Every page I build carries schema matching what is actually on it and nothing beyond that. The restraint is deliberate — this page uses Service and areaServed rather than LocalBusiness, precisely because there is no physical presence in Lugano to assert.
Hiring a developer who is not in Lugano
What makes remote work fail is almost never the distance. It is the absence of a written record — decisions made on calls, nothing agreed in text, two people remembering different things six weeks later. Every Lugano project runs with the scope, the change log and the decisions in writing, which is dull and is the entire reason the fixed price holds.

What I am not claiming about Lugano
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Lugano
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Lugano specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Lugano web development — common questions
- Will the site actually rank in Lugano search results?
- The build handles what is technically controllable: crawlable HTML, correct headings, structured data, fast pages, a clean sitemap and Search Console set up on day one. Ranking also depends on your competitors, your domain's age and the links pointing at you, which no developer controls. Anyone guaranteeing a position is guessing or lying.
- What happens if I am not happy with the result?
- Work is delivered in milestones against a written scope, and you review each one on a staging URL before it is paid for. If the delivered milestone does not match the scope, it gets corrected before anything moves forward. That structure exists so disagreement is resolved at the stage it happens rather than at the end when it is expensive.
- Do you build on WordPress or something custom?
- Whichever the project justifies. WordPress when you need to edit content constantly and want a familiar admin. A static build when speed and security matter more than a plugin ecosystem. Custom PHP and MySQL when the logic is genuinely yours. The choice is explained in the quote with its trade-offs, not presented as a foregone conclusion.
- Can you migrate my Lugano site without losing rankings?
- Yes, and the redirect map is the whole job. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 before launch, and anything with no equivalent goes to the closest relevant page rather than the homepage. Sites lose rankings in migration because that mapping was skipped, not because migration is inherently risky.
- Do I need to provide the content and images?
- Content, yes — you know your business and I do not. I will restructure and edit what you send so it reads for the web, and I will tell you where a section is missing. Photography is worth paying a local photographer for; stock images of people in offices are recognisable as stock and quietly cost you credibility.
- Do you actually work with businesses in Lugano?
- Yes, remotely. I work with Swiss clients from Islamabad, quoting in CHF and invoicing in CHF. I have no office, address or phone number in Lugano and will not pretend otherwise. If your project needs someone physically present, hire locally — I will say so in the first reply rather than after a deposit.
- How much does a website cost in Lugano?
- A business website starts from CHF70 and goes live in about three days. An e-commerce build starts from CHF130 in around seven days, and a custom application from CHF180 in ten. Those are starting figures — the exact number is fixed in writing once scope is agreed, and it does not move after that.
