Web developer in Geneva
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Geneva businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in CHF, scoped in writing before anything starts.
If your Geneva business gets most of its work through word of mouth, your website has a narrower job than you have probably been told. It is not there to find strangers. It is there to reassure someone who already has your name and is checking whether you look real. That is a much easier site to build, and much cheaper.
What working with a Swiss client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in Switzerland, Geneva included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | CHF — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | VAT at 8.1% |
| Your customers' data sits under | the revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | a DPA with the Swiss addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses |
| Checkout can realistically use | TWINT, PostFinance, Stripe, and Klarna |
| My day, in Geneva time | 06:00–15:00 — about 6 hours inside a normal working day |
One thing worth knowing about building for Switzerland
Switzerland runs four national languages and TWINT dominates mobile payment. Sites here are usually German and French at minimum, and the translation workflow has to be part of the CMS rather than a spreadsheet.
Why the Geneva quote lists exclusions as well as inclusions
Every quote I send names what is not included as explicitly as what is. Copywriting from scratch, photography, logo design, ongoing content, paid advertising and third-party licence fees are the usual ones. A quote listing only inclusions is not cheaper — it is the same price with the arguments deferred to later.
This is unpopular at the proposal stage and it is the reason fixed prices hold. Someone comparing three quotes for a Geneva project is usually comparing three different scopes without realising it, and the cheapest one is very often the one that excluded the most while saying the least.
Professional services in Geneva
Accountants, solicitors, consultants and agencies sell judgement, which cannot be photographed. What converts instead is specificity: the sectors you actually work in, the size of client you actually serve, and named people with real biographies. A professional services site full of stock imagery and the word "bespoke" is indistinguishable from every competitor in Geneva.
Practically, the site's job is qualification rather than lead volume. Publishing your minimum engagement size loses you enquiries and saves you hours, and almost every practice I have built for concluded afterwards that it should have done it sooner.
Structured data that is missing, wrong, or quietly lying
Schema markup is how a search engine reads what a page means rather than only what it says. Missing it costs you rich results. Getting it wrong is worse: marking up review stars you do not have, or a LocalBusiness at an address that is not yours, risks a manual action rather than a ranking.
Every page I build carries schema matching what is actually on it and nothing beyond that. The restraint is deliberate — this page uses Service and areaServed rather than LocalBusiness, precisely because there is no physical presence in Geneva to assert.
Hiring a developer who is not in Geneva
Distance costs you two specific things and I would rather name them than let you discover them. The first is spontaneous communication: you cannot walk in. The second is legal recourse, which is genuinely harder across borders. The first is handled by a fixed weekly call and a shared board you can read without asking. The second is handled by milestones — you pay for work already delivered and reviewable, never for work promised.
What I build for Geneva businesses
Fixed-scope, fixed-price, quoted in CHF. The full list is on the services page.
What I am not claiming about Geneva
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Geneva
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Geneva specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Geneva web development — common questions
- What hours will you be available to us in Geneva?
- My working day lands at 06:00–15:00 in your time, which is roughly 6 hours inside a normal Geneva working day. In practice you can raise something in the morning and have it answered the same morning, and a scheduled call is easy to place at a civilised hour for both of us.
- Can you fix my existing site rather than rebuild it?
- Often, yes, and it is usually the cheaper answer. Speed problems, a broken mobile layout, a form that silently fails or missing structured data are all fixable on the site you already have. I will tell you which of the two you need after looking, and a rebuild only gets recommended when the fix would cost more than starting again.
- What payment methods can my Geneva checkout accept?
- For Switzerland: TWINT, PostFinance, Stripe, and Klarna. The right combination depends on your average basket and your customers, and picking wrong is expensive — the payment method a buyer expects but cannot find is one of the most common reasons a checkout is abandoned at the final step.
- How long does a Geneva project actually take?
- Three days for a business site, seven for a store, ten for a custom application. That holds because the process is fixed rather than improvised and because your content exists on day one. What stretches a build is almost never the code — it is waiting for copy, logos and photographs, so those are requested before the clock starts.
- What happens if I am not happy with the result?
- Work is delivered in milestones against a written scope, and you review each one on a staging URL before it is paid for. If the delivered milestone does not match the scope, it gets corrected before anything moves forward. That structure exists so disagreement is resolved at the stage it happens rather than at the end when it is expensive.
- Do you build on WordPress or something custom?
- Whichever the project justifies. WordPress when you need to edit content constantly and want a familiar admin. A static build when speed and security matter more than a plugin ecosystem. Custom PHP and MySQL when the logic is genuinely yours. The choice is explained in the quote with its trade-offs, not presented as a foregone conclusion.
- Do you provide ongoing maintenance after launch?
- Thirty days of snag fixes are included after launch at no extra cost — anything that does not work as specified gets fixed. Beyond that there are monthly plans for updates, backups, monitoring and small changes. They are optional and cancellable; a site handed over properly does not require a retainer to keep running.
Also covering Switzerland
Same terms, same currency, same process — these are the other Switzerland towns with a page here.
Where this page sits
This page covers Geneva. Every other town in Switzerland is listed on the Switzerland coverage page, and the full worldwide list is at all locations.
Before you enquire: pricing is published rather than quoted on request, how I work covers the process end to end, the work page lists live client sites you can open, and vendor information answers the procurement questions.
