Web developer in Dortmund

The single most expensive mistake I see in Dortmund is a site built to impress the owner rather than convert the customer. Animation on the hero, the phone number in an image, the price hidden behind "contact us". Each one is defensible on its own and together they cost real money every month.

One thing worth knowing about building for Germany

German law requires a compliant Impressum and Widerrufsbelehrung, and getting them wrong invites an Abmahnung — a formal cease-and-desist with costs attached. On German builds these are structural requirements, not footer decoration.

Why Dortmund sites are built to be edited by you

A site you cannot update is a site that decays. Prices go stale, staff leave, the opening hours are wrong for six months. So the parts of a Dortmund build that change often — text, images, prices, opening hours, team members — are editable by you without touching code or paying me.

That is a design decision with a cost: it takes longer to build an editable block than a hard-coded one. The most expensive bug on a small business website makes no noise at all. A form posts, shows a thank-you message, and the email never arrives — usually because the host's mail function is unauthenticated and the receiving server drops it without a bounce. The business concludes demand fell.

The fix is authenticated SMTP with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured on the sending domain, plus a database write so a submission survives even when delivery fails. Work is delivered in milestones against a written scope, and you review each one on a staging URL before it is paid for. If the delivered milestone does not match the scope, it gets corrected before anything moves forward. That structure exists so disagreement is resolved at the stage it happens rather than at the end when it is expensive.

Will the site actually rank in Dortmund search results?

The build handles what is technically controllable: crawlable HTML, correct headings, structured data, fast pages, a clean sitemap and Search Console set up on day one.
