Website cost calculator
An estimate from the same published floors I quote from. It runs in your browser, sends nothing anywhere, and asks for no email. Every rule it applies is written out below the tool, so you can check the arithmetic rather than trust it.
Build your estimate
The starting points, and what each includes
These are floors rather than averages. They are the same numbers published on the pricing page and on each service page, read from one source so they cannot disagree.
| Build | From | Typical time | What that includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landing page | $40 | 2 days | 1 page, one conversion action |
| Business website | $80 | 3 days | up to 8 pages |
| E-commerce store | $150 | 7 days | catalogue, cart, Stripe checkout |
| Web application | $200 | 10 days | auth, one full workflow, admin |
What each add-on costs, and why
| Add-on | Adds | Why it costs what it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Take card payments (Stripe) | +$80 | Checkout tested against declines, 3D Secure and refunds — not only the happy path. |
| Integrate an external system | +$75 | Per system. Accounting, dispatch, CRM or a supplier feed. Each has its own failure modes. |
| Migrate from an existing site | +$75 | Includes a URL-by-URL redirect map. This is not optional if the site currently ranks. |
| I produce or load the content | +$75 | Loading a catalogue or writing structure around your copy. The most common cause of a slipped date. |
| A second language | +$85 | Rarely worth it unless you genuinely sell in that language. I will say so if I think it is not. |
| Ongoing maintenance (first year) | +$540 | Charged monthly at $45, shown here as a year so it appears in the total honestly. |
What this calculator deliberately cannot price
Every honest estimate has a boundary and this is mine. The calculator prices volume — pages, products, integrations — because volume is countable. It cannot price how unusual your requirements are, and that is the variable that actually moves a quote.
- A catalogue whose pricing is a formula rather than a list. Made-to-measure products are a different data model, not a bigger one, and the difference is architectural.
- A workflow with approvals, roles and exceptions. Three states is a form; eleven states with conditional transitions is a fortnight.
- An integration with an undocumented system. Documented APIs are predictable; undocumented ones are research, and research cannot be fixed-price honestly.
- Decision speed at your end. A supplier holding context open while waiting a week for an answer is paying for that, and on a three-day build it is the largest single risk.
- Content that does not exist yet. This is the most common reason a build slips, and no estimate can price a bottleneck that sits on your side of the table.
Which is why the output is a range and not a price. If your project is conventional, the lower figure is realistic. If any of the five above apply, tell me at the start and the number gets agreed properly — before work begins rather than halfway through it.
How to use the estimate when comparing quotes
The most useful thing you can do with a number from this page is take it to other suppliers. A quote far below it usually excludes something — payment testing, content, handover — and a quote far above it should come with a specific explanation of what the extra buys. Either way, the five line items worth asking about explicitly are set out in what a website quote should include, and the reasons quotes for the same brief vary so widely are in the website cost guide.
Questions about the calculator
- How accurate is this website cost calculator?
- It is an estimate built from the same floors I quote from, and it will be close for a conventional project. It cannot price the thing that actually moves a quote — how unusual your requirements are. A confirmed number comes after a scope conversation, in writing, and does not move afterwards.
- Why do you publish a calculator when most agencies hide prices?
- Because hiding the number wastes both our time. If the estimate is above your budget you learn that in thirty seconds instead of after two calls and a proposal. If it is within budget, you already trust me more than the supplier who would not tell you.
- Do I have to give you my email to see the estimate?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no form in front of the result. A calculator that holds your number hostage for an email address is a lead form wearing a costume.
- Why is your starting price so much lower than a UK agency?
- Labour cost by location, and no layers. There is no account manager, no design team and no office. That is the whole explanation — it is not a discount on quality, and it comes with the trade-offs set out honestly on the hiring guide.
