Technical SEO for CCTV and security installation companies
CCTV and security installers compete in a local market where most competitors have a phone number and a slow one-page site. The winnable work is unglamorous: crawlable service pages, correct local markup, fast mobile pages, and a quote path that survives a thumb.

What the search actually looks like in this trade
Almost every enquiry starts on a phone, often at the point of a specific worry — a break-in on the street, an insurance requirement, a landlord obligation. The searcher is not comparing brands. They are looking for someone credible who covers their postcode and can come out.
That means the pages that matter are service pages and coverage pages, not the home page, and the metric that matters is whether the enquiry form works on a mid-range Android phone on mobile data.
Coverage without doorway pages
The obvious move — a page for every town within fifty miles, differing only in the place name — is a doorway pattern, and a local installer with no premises in those towns is exactly the profile the policy was written about.
What works instead: one strong service page per service, coverage stated plainly with the areas you genuinely serve, and a location page only where you can write something true of that place — completed installations, named neighbourhoods, local requirements. If there are three specific paragraphs, publish it. If not, do not.
The technical work, in order
- Crawl and render check — many installer sites are built on page builders that ship content only after JavaScript runs
- LocalBusiness markup with service area, geo and opening hours, matching every directory listing exactly
- Service pages that are crawlable, distinct, and target one query each
- Mobile: tap targets, form usability, and the quote path tested on a real phone
- Core Web Vitals, usually dominated by unoptimised installation photography
- Review capture built into the post-job follow-up, because reviews decide the local pack
What this industry runs into
- Customers do not know what system they need and will not fill in a form until they do
- Accreditations and insurance are the trust signal, and they are usually buried in a footer
- Commercial and residential are different buyers who need different pages
- Competing against national brands with big budgets on generic terms is a losing game
The build behind this page
This page exists because there is a live client site proving the pairing. If there were not, it would not have been published — that is the rule that keeps a generated page from being a doorway page.
CCTV Installers
Responsive website for a UK CCTV and security-camera installation company, with service pages and local SEO.
cctv-installers.co.uk ↗Questions specific to this work
- Have you worked with a CCTV company before?
- Yes — cctv-installers.co.uk is a live UK client site I built, covering service pages and local SEO for a security-camera installation business.
- Should I build a page for every town I cover?
- Only where you can write genuinely specific content for that town. Otherwise it is a doorway page — a policy violation rather than a grey area — and one well-written service page will outperform forty thin ones.
- How long before this shows up in enquiries?
- Technical fixes can show in Search Console within two to four weeks. Local ranking movement realistically takes three to six months, and reviews often move the needle faster than anything I can do in the code.
