How to set up Bing Webmaster Tools
Sign in at bing.com/webmasters and import your verified properties from Google Search Console — it takes about two minutes and carries the verification across. Bing’s index feeds Copilot and several other assistants, which makes it matter more than its market share suggests.
Before you start
- A Microsoft account
- A verified Search Console property, or DNS access
The steps

Step 1: Open Bing Webmaster Tools
Sign in with a Microsoft account at bing.com/webmasters.

Step 2: Choose to import from Google
The import option carries your verified properties across in one step.

Step 3: Or verify manually
By DNS TXT record if you are not importing. DNS survives redesigns, unlike a file or meta tag.

Step 4: Submit your sitemap
The same sitemap index you gave Google. Paste the full URL rather than the path.

Step 5: Enable IndexNow
Bing supports it directly, so new and changed URLs can be pushed rather than waited for.

Step 6: Check the Site Explorer
Confirm your pages are being discovered and note anything reported as blocked.
Why Bing matters more than its share
Its index is what Copilot draws on, and several other assistants either use it or use something derived from it. A site invisible to Bing is invisible to a category of assistant regardless of how it performs in Google.
The reports worth reading
Bing exposes crawl information Google does not, including a clearer view of which URLs were requested and refused. On a host that blocks crawlers at the edge, that report is frequently where the problem becomes visible first.
What it does that Search Console does not
Free keyword research with real volume figures, a backlink report you would otherwise need a paid tool for, and direct IndexNow support rather than treating a submission as a hint. None of it replaces Search Console. The point is that it costs fifteen minutes and covers ground Google does not expose at all.
