The problem
Furniture is a considered purchase researched on a phone and often completed on a desktop days later. The site had to work properly on a small screen, and it had to be findable for the searches people actually run — which are specific product and location phrases, not the category head terms.
The usual pattern is to build the site, launch it, and treat SEO as a separate engagement six months later once it becomes obvious nobody is arriving. That sequence wastes the build.
What I built
A responsive catalogue with product pages, cart and checkout, laid out mobile-first rather than as a desktop design compressed down.
Structured data across product and organisation entities, a meta and heading structure planned around the target searches before the pages were written, and location pages for the areas the retailer genuinely serves — real service areas, not a generated list of towns.
Search Console configured and the sitemap submitted at launch, so the site went live indexed and measurable rather than invisible.
Decisions worth explaining
Location pages were written only for areas with a genuine service relationship. Generating a page for every town in the country is the fastest route to a spam action, and it is what most agencies sell as "local SEO".
Schema was written by hand and validated rather than generated by a plugin, because plugin-generated markup routinely describes entities that do not match what is on the page.
