Web developer in Chennai
Websites, online stores and technical SEO for Chennai businesses — built remotely from Islamabad, quoted in INR, scoped in writing before anything starts.
The useful question is not what a website in Chennai costs. It is what one enquiry is worth to you, because that number decides everything else. A business where a lead is worth four figures should not be optimising a build down to the last hundred; a business selling a low-margin product cannot afford a bespoke platform. I ask this first and it changes the recommendation more often than not.
What working with a Indian client actually changes
These are the terms that differ by country rather than by town. They apply to every business in India, Chennai included, and they are the substance of what this page is claiming.
| Quoted and invoiced in | INR — never a converted figure presented at the end |
|---|---|
| Tax position | GST at 18% on your sales; my invoices are imported services under reverse charge |
| Your customers' data sits under | the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 |
| Lawful transfer mechanism | the DPDP Act permits transfers except to notified countries, and the DPA records the basis |
| Checkout can realistically use | Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree, and UPI — which now carries the majority of domestic transaction volume |
| My day, in Chennai time | 09:30–18:30 — about 8.5 hours inside a normal working day |
One thing worth knowing about building for India
UPI changes the entire checkout design. An Indian store built around card fields first and UPI as an afterthought converts far worse than one built the other way round, and that is a layout decision, not a plugin.
How a Chennai build is scoped before anything is written
Scope is fixed in writing before development starts, and the number in that document is the number on the invoice. For Chennai projects that document lists every page, every form, every integration and every third-party account the site will touch — priced in INR, not converted at the end from something else.
The reason this matters more than it sounds: almost every dispute in web development is a scope dispute wearing a different hat. "Can you just add" is how a three-day build becomes a three-week one. Fixing scope up front does not stop you changing your mind; it makes the cost of changing your mind visible before you commit to it, which is the only honest way to run a fixed price.
Trades and field services in Chennai
Builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers and installers share one problem: the customer is deciding on their phone, often standing in the room with the problem, and they will call the first firm that looks like it will pick up. Three things decide it — the phone number tappable in the header, a coverage list naming their town, and photographs of your own finished work rather than stock.
The thing trades sites most often get wrong is the quote form. Asking for a full address, a project budget and a preferred start date before anything else is a form built for your admin convenience, not for the customer. Two fields and a photo upload will produce more enquiries than eight fields ever will, and the rest can be collected on the call you just earned.
Structured data that is missing, wrong, or quietly lying
Schema markup is how a search engine reads what a page means rather than only what it says. Missing it costs you rich results. Getting it wrong is worse: marking up review stars you do not have, or a LocalBusiness at an address that is not yours, risks a manual action rather than a ranking.
Every page I build carries schema matching what is actually on it and nothing beyond that. The restraint is deliberate — this page uses Service and areaServed rather than LocalBusiness, precisely because there is no physical presence in Chennai to assert.
Hiring a developer who is not in Chennai
What makes remote work fail is almost never the distance. It is the absence of a written record — decisions made on calls, nothing agreed in text, two people remembering different things six weeks later. Every Chennai project runs with the scope, the change log and the decisions in writing, which is dull and is the entire reason the fixed price holds.

Priced for Chennai specifically
What I am not claiming about Chennai
A location page is the easiest place on a website to imply something untrue, so here is the other side of it plainly:
- I have no office, postal address or phone number in Chennai
- I cannot meet you in person, and if that is a requirement you should hire locally
- I am not claiming existing clients in Chennai specifically — my live work is listed on the work page and you can check it
- Nothing on this page is a guarantee of search rankings, which no developer can honestly offer
Chennai web development — common questions
- How much does a website cost in Chennai?
- A business website starts from ₹6,600 and goes live in about three days. An e-commerce build starts from ₹12,000 in around seven days, and a custom application from ₹17,000 in ten. Those are starting figures — the exact number is fixed in writing once scope is agreed, and it does not move after that.
- What currency will I be invoiced in?
- INR. Quotes, milestones and the final invoice are all written in INR so you are never comparing a converted figure against a local supplier's. Regarding tax: GST at 18% on your sales; my invoices are imported services under reverse charge.
- Who owns the website when it is finished?
- You do, completely. The domain is registered in your name, hosting sits in your account, the code lives in a repository you control, and any payment provider account is opened in your business name. Credentials are handed to you as they are created rather than at the end, so you are never locked out of your own site.
- How do you handle our customers' data under Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023?
- Your customer data is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and sending it to a developer in Pakistan is a restricted transfer. That is resolved by the DPDP Act permits transfers except to notified countries, and the DPA records the basis, published on this site and pre-signed before you send an enquiry — not drafted after you ask about it.
- Do you build on WordPress or something custom?
- Whichever the project justifies. WordPress when you need to edit content constantly and want a familiar admin. A static build when speed and security matter more than a plugin ecosystem. Custom PHP and MySQL when the logic is genuinely yours. The choice is explained in the quote with its trade-offs, not presented as a foregone conclusion.
- Can you migrate my Chennai site without losing rankings?
- Yes, and the redirect map is the whole job. Every existing URL is mapped to its new equivalent with a 301 before launch, and anything with no equivalent goes to the closest relevant page rather than the homepage. Sites lose rankings in migration because that mapping was skipped, not because migration is inherently risky.
- Do I need to provide the content and images?
- Content, yes — you know your business and I do not. I will restructure and edit what you send so it reads for the web, and I will tell you where a section is missing. Photography is worth paying a local photographer for; stock images of people in offices are recognisable as stock and quietly cost you credibility.
