Search and SEO
What is Programmatic SEO?
Programmatic SEO is generating pages at scale from structured data — one per product, location, comparison or combination. Done with a quality gate it captures long-tail demand efficiently; done without one it is the fastest available route to index bloat and a policy problem.
Also called: pSEO · templated pages
Where it genuinely works
- Real inventory: properties, jobs, flights, products — where each page describes something that exists
- Genuine comparisons where the underlying data differs meaningfully
- Combinations backed by evidence, such as a service paired with an industry you have actually served
The gate that separates it from spam
Require something real before a page is allowed to exist, and enforce it in the build rather than in review. On this site the rule is that a service-and-industry page is emitted only when the same live client project appears in both proof lists, and only when hand-written copy exists for that pairing. Sixteen combinations are possible; seven are published.
Signs it has gone wrong
- Pages differing only by a substituted noun
- Word counts identical across hundreds of URLs
- Indexed count far exceeding pages anyone would deliberately publish
- Traffic that arrives and bounces because the page did not answer the query it matched
